Duties of Fair Ambassador
The Ambassador represents the Wainfleet Agricultural Society at the OAAS Convention in February in Toronto, parades in Wainfleet, at the CNE in Toronto in August, and other events. The Ambassador also is a crucial member of the Society at the annual Fair, attending many of the events and presenting ribbons.
Rules and Regulations
1. Upon receipt of approval of this application, the finalist will be available for selected Duties:
- Represent the Society and Fair and at community events
- Take an active roll at your fair
- Involvement in your Agricultural Society
- Represent your Society at the OAAS convention February of 2026
- Represent your Society in the CNE Ambassador competition August 2026
- Participants are asked to disclose scheduling conflicts include work, school, or personal plans
2. Competition Information
- The ambassador will be chosen at a fair ambassador competition
- Four judges are selected from your Societies area
- Each contestant will take part in an interview with the judges (10 minutes)
- Each contestant will be expected to give a short, prepared speech, approximately 2 – 3 minutes in duration, on one of the following topics.
- What makes your fair special?
- How is agriculture important to life in Ontario / municipality?
- What makes living in your community special?
- The importance of volunteering in your community
3. Judges will consider
- Good communication skills
- Good character, charm, personality, poise, and enthusiasm
- Interest in agriculture and community involvement
- Knowledge of your fair’s surroundings (Wainfleet & Niagara)
- Knowledge of your fair and the society your representing
- Special talents: art, hobbies, drama, sports, music
4. Note: In the event the ambassador cannot complete their term, the first runner up will carry out his/her duties
5. The societies ambassador or first runner up is expected to wear attire appropriate while representing the society. Business casual attire such as dresses, slacks, sweaters, dress shirt, suits and skirts are essential. No jeans are allowed. Appropriate footwear for walking and standing for long periods is recommended. The Society Ambassador and first runner up should wear their sash, medallion, Tiera and Hat while on duty representing the society.
6. The contestant will be awarded the title of fair Ambassador and will receive
- $500 bursary, paid at the end of his/her term
- Lifetime free admission to Wainfleet Fair
- Networking opportunities with other fair ambassadors from across the province
- Public speaking and presentation training
- Opportunities to learn about the inner workings of your fair leadership and communication skills and confidence development.
- Have fun enjoy the opportunity smile, be caution when posing with livestock, think about your presentation and posture. Please no sunglasses unless prescription eye wear.
- It’s always great to take pictures to remember the events you attend, activities you participate in and people you meet
7. Social Media
- Be smart, positive and respectful
- We encourage the use of social media, to display and share achievements
- Include, Facebook, Instagram, for example
- Remember to always keep in mind when you’re posting online that you’re representing your society
8. Official entry forms of Agricultural Societies holding similar programs must reach the Canadian National Exhibition by April 30th, 2026, except by special permission of the Canadian National Exhibition.
9. Ambassador of the Fairs Program participants must be at least 18 years of age by August 15th, 2026 and under the age of 25.
10. Ambassador of the Fairs Program participants must be a resident of Ontario and be connected to a Canadian Agriculture Society.
11. Ambassador of the Fairs Program participants may not be substituted for first runner-up by their society after June 30th, 2026, except by written permission from the CNE.
